The Engagement Ring Customization Process

Before you pop the big question to your future life partner you need an engagement ring that will blow them away. One way to help guarantee that they will be swept off their feet is to create a customized engagement ring for them. At Gemorie, we specialize in designing unforgettable custom engagement rings. To help you understand the process, we’ve created an easy-to-understand guide of the different steps involved in creating your customized engagement ring.

Step 1: Consultation

The first step is to contact our friendly, experienced sales team. We will then organize a time to meet (in-person or virtually) so you can discuss your ideas with one of our designers. It shouldn’t take more than thirty minutes to an hour for us to understand what you’re looking for and to agree on a budget.

Step 2: Gemstone Selection

We have a great selection of gemstones here at Gemorie but it can take a few days for your desired stone to arrive in-store depending on availability. You can then return to our showroom or we can video call you if you prefer, so you can view the gem.

Step 3: CAD Design

Once the design has been confirmed we can create a computer-aided design (CAD) that can be emailed to you once completed. This can take a few days but once you’ve chosen the center stone a 3D CAD design can be created to give you a virtual look at the design of the ring.

Step 4: Wax Mold Cast

Once you’ve approved the CAD design, we can create a wax design for your custom engagement ring if you would like. We will organize another appointment for you to view the wax design.

Step 5: Ring Cast

Once you are happy with the final design, your custom masterpiece is cast into your choice of metal.  This casting method involves pouring molten metal into molds.  Depending on the metal chosen this can take between two to five business days.

Step 6: The Finishing Touches

The next stage is the design team putting the final touches on your custom engagement ring. They clean up, set the stones, and finish. This process takes approximately two to seven business days, depending on the design of your ring.

Step 7: Pick up your Masterpiece

Once the ring is complete our team will contact you to let you know it’s ready to be picked up. At a time that suits you, we will organize an appointment at our showroom so you look over the ring and we can go over the payment and warranty details. Rings in our made-to-order ring collection include FREE 2-day shipping or in-store pickup. Please allow 2-4 weeks for your piece to be made.

Step 8: Say YES! Congratulations

The final step is for you to get down on bended knee and pop the question to your loved one. Once they set eyes on the beautiful custom ring, we know that they will scream YES!  If the ring doesn’t fit perfectly, please let us know and we will resize your custom engagement ring for free.  All of our jewelry comes standard with a limited lifetime service warranty. We cover replacing the loss of side diamonds, one free polishing or rhodium, and one free sizing within the first year. You will get free cleanings and check-ups, as well as prong re-tightening for a lifetime.
